Join us for a guided spring hike focused on seasonal foraging and hands-on conservation. Participants will learn to identify common edible spring plants while also helping protect native ecosystems by removing invasive garlic mustard along the trail. The walk is geared towards those 10+ and children must be accompanied by an adult. Dress for the weather and bring gloves for pulling garlic mustard.
This is a free event with limited space. Visit Friends of Big Rock Park at www.friendsofbigrockpark.org to register. Your registration helps us ensure there are enough materials for all participants.

Step into the shoes of prehistoric hunters and take aim with an ancient tool! The atlatl, a powerful spear-throwing device used for thousands of years, helped early people hunt with precision—and now it’s your turn to make history come alive-one throw at time. Participants will explore the fascinating history of the atlatl and get hands-on experience throwing spears. Can you hit the target and prove your hunting skills? This is a free family-friendly event and registration is required! Children must be accompanied by an adult. Kids ages 8 and up are welcome to throw. All participants are required to where closed toe shoes. (no croc type footwear or sandals)
Program Cancellation & Refund Policy If a program is cancelled by Marion County Conservation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, you will receive a full refund.
