First Day to Request Absentee Ballot

2026 Primary Election – Absentee Voting

The Primary Election in Marion County will take place on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.  All regular Countywide polling sites (17) will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.

The first day the Auditor may accept Absentee Ballot Request Forms is Tuesday, March 24, 2026.  Registered voters may request an absentee ballot to be sent to them by mail.  To download an absentee ballot request form use the following link absentee ballot request form.  The deadline to return the original, signed form to our office, Marion County Auditor, 214 E Main St, Knoxville IA 50138, is Monday, May 18, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.

The first day the Auditor may mail Absentee ballots is Wednesday, May 13, 2026.  This is the same day voters may begin voting in person at the Auditor’s office.  Please note, ID is required to participate.  In person Absentee Ballot voting will continue until Monday, June 1, 2026 at 4:30 p.m.

All voted Absentee Ballots, whether returning in person or by mail must be received in the Marion County Auditor’s Office by 8:00 p.m. on 6/2/2026.
