Draft Marion County Comprehensive Plan Available for Public Review and Comment
The draft Marion County Comprehensive Plan is now available for public review and comment. The draft Comprehensive Plan outlines the long‑term vision, goals, and strategies that will guide Marion County’s growth, land use, housing, transportation, natural resources, economic development, and community services over the next 20 years.
We invite all residents, businesses, community organizations, and other stakeholders to review the draft plan and share feedback. Public input is essential to ensure that the final plan reflects the values, priorities, and future needs of Marion County.
How to Participate
- Review the Draft Plan: The full draft document is available online at https://www.marioncountyiowa.gov/zoning/marion_county_comprehensive_plan_update_2026/ and in print at the Zoning Department at Marion County Courthouse (214 E. Main St., Knoxville, IA 50138)
- Submit Comments: Comments may be submitted to zoning@marioncountyiowa.gov.
- Attend Public Meetings: Community members are encouraged to participate in upcoming public open houses.
- Knoxville Public Library on Monday February 23, 2026 from 5 – 7 PM
- Pella Public Library on Thursday February 26, 2026 from 5 – 7 PM
Comment Period
The public comment period will be open from Friday February 6, 2026 through Monday March 9, 2026. All comments received by the deadline will be carefully reviewed and considered before the Comprehensive Plan is finalized.
